THE TRAILER FOR PLANET ZOO 2 IS FINALLY HERE! Click here to watch it now!
With this trailer, we now know for sure that the game will have both aviaries and aquariums! I never doubted this would be the case, but its awesome either way to finally see these systems first hand. All the animals look incredible, especially that TIGER!
There's also a ton of stuff on the website, and the Steam store page for the game. The UI looks awesome! I'll always love the first game's saturated greens, but I think I might be even more fond of the muted colors of the new UI. I'm especially fond of the pink accents that can be seen when selecting an animal.
Now, here's some stuff I'm hoping to see in the full game when it releases October 13th!
First of all, exhibit boxes. These are, in my opinion, a somewhat underrated feature in Planet Zoo 1. You can put snakes in them, which makes them an automatic win in my book.
But I will be the first to admit that exhibits could use some work. First of all, they're only available in a single size of 4x4x4 meters, which is much too big for tiny insects and arthropods, but also way too small for massive reptiles like iguanas. There is a second size in the walkthrough exhibit, but this exhibit type houses completely different animals than the exhibit box and is used in different ways.
My dream is for exhibit boxes to come in a variety of sizes: from 1-meter high boxes that can be inset into walls, to massive sprawling exhibits that can comfortably house an adult anaconda.
And on the topic of new exhibit functionality- TOUCH TANKS! PZ1 has a variety of appearances an exhibit can take on, determined by the species inside. Imagine a standalone touch tank that can be populated with a variety of sea urchins, anemones, and starfish! Complete with handwashing stations, of course.
Lastly, I want there to be an exhibit box that is fully water (as opposed to the half-filled one with an island in the middle used for diamondback terrapins and axolotls in the first game) and I want to put jellyfish in it. I'm not terribly picky, but I would be especially happy to get moon jellies and Chilean sea nettles.
